Member to Member Program

The Greater Detroit Chapter of ASTD is pleased to offer a Member to Member incentive to its membership. This program is designed to encourage the GDASTD members to actively recruit new members from the training community and bring them into our growing chapter.

Our goal is to achieve 130+ members in 2010. To do this, each member needs to encourage co-workers, associates, clients, vendors, and others who share the passion for human performance to join our ranks.

To incent new member sign-ups, GDASTD is pleased to offer to any member who recruits an associate or friend to join the chapter, one FREE meeting attendance. In addition, the recruiting member and the new member will be recognized at a chapter meeting.

Please keep your eyes open for candidates to join us and make our chapter an even better place to grow, learn, share, and network.

Grant Funded Training

The Greater Detroit Chapter ASTD would like to announce to it's members a 100% grant-funded training opportunity in southeast Michigan. St. Clair County Community College (Port Huron, MI) in spring 2008 was awarded a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor for program development and job training in the areas of transportation, distribution and logistics. The three-year, Community-Based Job Training Grant will provide the program and equipment to train more than 400 workers in the tracking and movement of goods. For this training program, the college formed collaboration with more than a dozen business, education and industry partners. SC4 has developed specific programs in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and in Transportation and Logistics technology. Mott Community College (Flint, MI) will offer training in Material Handling technologies and CDL technologies. The training can occur on the Mott campus, or at your location.

The current effort is geared to rolling out free training in thirteen topical areas of Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL) to all business and industry members in southeast and mid-
Michigan. There is no match required to gain access to this opportunity. You may wish to secure this training for your staff in southeast Michigan
so they can refresh or increase their knowledge of supply chain technologies at no cost to them. If you have any questions at all, please contact the Project Manager:
